This modern facility, donated by COTCO, will provide nearly 700 pupils with better school catering facilities.

In Ngoumou, in the Mefou and Akono division, education has just gained a new ally. On 28 May 2026, the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) officially handed over a state-of-the-art canteen to the local council, thereby reinforcing its commitment to children’s well-being and academic success through good nutrition.

Built at a cost of almost 40 million CFA francs, the 95.79 m² facility comprises a dining hall, a kitchen, a storage room, and three modern toilets. It will directly benefit almost 700 pupils and over 70 teachers from four primary schools in the area around the Teacher Training School for General Education Ngoumou.

During the ceremony, which was presided over by Roland Ewane Ekeh, the subdivisional officer of Ngoumou, local authorities praised the project as a promising step for the future. “We are grateful to COTCO for this gem. We really needed this kind of infrastructure”, he said, urging the local community to preserve it.

“A hungry stomach has no ears. It was to provide a concrete response to the need for a balanced and sufficient diet for the schoolchildren in our municipality that I approached COTCO to build this school canteen”, explained the mayor of Ngoumou, Jean-Baptiste Amvouna Atemengue. This canteen is a sustainable investment in local human capital. “Children’s health depends on their diet, which has a significant impact on their academic performance”, he emphasised, assuring that the Municipal Council would provide for its upkeep.

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, this school canteen is the first of its kind to be built by COTCO. It is an innovative project in the field of education. Serge Mballa, Human Resources Manager and representative of COTCO’s General Manager, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou, remarked: “This canteen symbolises solidarity and partnership, and our shared vision of a more welcoming school environment that is conducive to children’s learning”.

“We are delighted to receive this school canteen. It provides a concrete solution to the difficulties we previously encountered in feeding the children”, said Henriette Esse, headteacher of the Group 1 Public Training School.

This satisfaction reflects the tangible impact of COTCO’s actions to improve the living conditions of communities living along the Chad-Cameroon pipeline in the long term.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, COTCO rewarded 230 learners from seven primary and five secondary schools in the subdivision. The awardees, who were selected based on their academic performance during the 2025–2026 school year, received kits containing textbooks and school bags. Valued at 8.5 million CFA francs in total, this donation aims to support families while fostering a culture of hard work and achievement.

On behalf of the entire local educational community, Minta’s mayor, Jean Lambert Nang, thanked COTCO for recognising the subdivision’s top pupils. “None of the pupils receiving awards today will forget this day: 26 May 2026. The name of COTCO will remain etched in their memories throughout their lives. It is for all these reasons that we extend our heartfelt and sincere thanks to COTCO for its generosity and commitment to supporting good education”, he said.

Jules S. Wack Mballa, public affairs manager and representative of COTCO’s General Manager, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou, noted that this initiative, running since 2007, reflects the company’s commitment to education. “This initiative recognises academic excellence and encourages healthy competition among pupils, motivating them to work harder in future school years. It also supports the government’s education policy, which emphasises academic excellence”, he added.

For Gervais Brice Meye, subdivisional officer of Minta, these awards are a powerful motivational tool. “These prizes will certainly boost the recipients’ morale”, he said, urging the pupils to continue their efforts.

The emotion was also evident among the recipients. “I now have my own books and a new school bag. I won’t have to borrow my classmates’ books to do my homework anymore. My parents are relieved”, said Francine Belinga, a pupil at the Secondary School Vela. Ernest Messe, a pupil at the Secondary School Industrial and Commercial Technical Minta, said proudly: “My mother told me she was proud of me. This award encourages me to do even better”.

Through the 20th edition of the school prize awards ceremony for the various subdivisions along the pipeline, COTCO reaffirms its commitment to long-term investment in education. The company is convinced that the success of young Cameroonians is one of the cornerstones of development for the communities living along the Chad-Cameroon pipeline

The Government Bilingual Technical High School Nkolbisson in Yaoundé is taking a significant step forward in its digital transformation. On 8 May 2026, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) donated 25 brand-new, fully equipped desktop computers to this leading school.

Thanks to a borehole drilled by COTCO, the local people can now put an end to long walks and waterborne diseases.

In Ebaka 1, in Bélabo subdivision, access to drinking water is no longer a daily struggle. On 20 March 2026, the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) officially handed over a hand-pumped borehole to the local community, providing around a hundred families with a sustainable and safe source of drinking water. In this village in the East region, residents previously had to walk long distances to reach water sources that were often unhygienic. Today, thanks to this new water infrastructure, water flows right through the heart of the village.

The personalities attest to the potability of the water from the Ebaka 1 borehole.

During the handover ceremony, which was attended by local authorities and residents, Ms Mimi Gilberte Elat Ntsem, the first deputy mayor of Bélabo, praised the initiative, saying that it “will enable our communities to have access to drinking water and help to reduce waterborne diseases”.

“Access to safe drinking water is at the heart of our priorities, as we recognise its essential role in the health, well-being and development of communities”, emphasised André Belle Gorsiri, Manager of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department, representing General Manager, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou.

For the residents, this borehole represents much more than just an infrastructure. “It was us women who bore the brunt of the water-carrying chore”, says Sophie Yanga. Thanks to this facility, she explains, families are saving time and improving their living conditions. Pauline Nyipani shares the same sentiment: “Today, this borehole is a real blessing for me. At my age, I no longer expected to see this happen”.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of the facility, COTCO has established a local management committee and provided community technicians with training in basic maintenance. This 5.8 million CFA franc borehole is part of COTCO’s ongoing commitment to the well-being of communities living along the Chad-Cameroon pipeline. More than sixty water projects have been completed in this area since 2012.

Thanks to a new borehole, the inhabitants of Bikoko can now avoid long walks and waterborne diseases.

Situated 52 km from Bétaré-Oya in the East region, the village of Bikoko is home to around 800 people. Thanks to a hand-operated borehole drilled by the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO), the village now has sustainable access to drinking water. The infrastructure was officially handed over to the community on 18 March 2026 during a ceremony attended by many members of the community. For the residents, this achievement represents much more than just a water supply project. “Today, in Bikoko, it’s a celebration of water”, says Dena Zamari, with emotion. For years, she explains, families had to fetch water from the river, which entailed health risks. “Now, that’s over. It’s a thing of the past”, she rejoices.

Drinking water for the people of Bikoko

Built as part of COTCO’s corporate social responsibility programme, this borehole aims to improve the living conditions of the people of Biboko in the long term. “COTCO is supporting the Cameroonian government’s water supply policy to improve the quality of life for the local population”, says André Belle Gorsiri, Manager of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department and representative of General Manager, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou.

The 5.8 million CFA franc project will also help to reduce exposure to waterborne diseases. Donald Sodea, the Deputy Subdivisional Officer of Bétaré-Oya, said that this initiative “provides a concrete response to an essential need”. Véronique Soumai, an inhabitant, shares this sentiment: “Water has come to us at home. Where there is drinking water, there is health”.

To ensure the well’s long-term sustainability, a local management committee has been established, and maintenance staff have been trained. This is the second hand-drilled well that COTCO has handed over in 2026, following the completion of more than sixty hand-drilled wells and nine solar-powered wells along the Chad-Cameroon pipeline since 2012.

By drilling a hand-operated well, COTCO has transformed the daily lives of inhabitants and restored hope to the entire community.

On 6 March 2026, the village of Bandevouri, located in the Lokoundjé subdivision, witnessed a historic moment. Thanks to the hand-powered borehole drilled by the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO), the village’s 1,000 inhabitants now have access to clean drinking water. This brings an end to years of hardship and long walks to the rivers.

Amidst applause from residents, schoolchildren, and local authorities, André Belle Gorsiri, Manager of the Corporate Social Responsibility department and representative of General Manager Jean-Paul Simo Njonou, activated the pump. The first jets of water gushed forth. The emotion was clear on the faces of those present.

“We would like to say a big thank you to COTCO”, said Suzanne Biang, a villager still haunted by the memory of her brother being bitten by a snake nine years ago while collecting water from the river. Like her, many families see this borehole as much more than just infrastructure; it represents a new lease of life.

The handover ceremony was presided over by Mathieu Brice Yebga Ngos, the subdivisional officer of Lokoundjé, in the presence of traditional leaders, local residents, teachers, and pupils from the primary school Bandevouri. Hortense Yvette Menge, the deputy mayor of Lokoundjé, was handed the key to the borehole. This made the borehole the immediate property of the local council.

Located within the grounds of primary school Bandevouri, the borehole will also improve learning conditions and hygiene for pupils. ‘’We will jealously guard this gem that COTCO has given us’’, promises Agathe Lucie Ntsama, the school’s headteacher.

Built using robust, durable equipment, the borehole is maintained by the community to ensure its long-term viability. Through this initiative, COTCO reaffirms its commitment to improving the living conditions of communities living alongside the Chad-Cameroon pipeline.

In Nkolondom, in the Okola subdivision of the Centre region, drinking water now flows from the taps. On 3 March 2026, the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) officially handed over to the municipality of Okola a solar-powered borehole built for the benefit of the local population.

The ceremony was presided over by the subdivisional officer of Okola, Aboubakar Moussa, and brought together administrative authorities, traditional leaders, and residents, all of whom had come to celebrate this infrastructure that brings hope. André Belle Gorsiri, Manager of COTCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility Department, representing General Manager, Jean-Paul Simo Njonou, carried out the symbolic handover of the keys to the facility to the Mayor of Okola, Vincent de Paul Noa.

Solar-powered borehole in Nkolondom with a capacity of 15m3

For years, the residents of Nkolondom had to travel long distances to fetch water. “We had to walk to rivers and swamps to collect water. It was a difficult situation for all generations”, says Joseph Bessala Mvogo, a villager who promises to “look after and take care of this facility”.

Built at a cost of 20.5 million CFA francs, the borehole is equipped with a smart solar pumping system, a 15,000-litre water tower, and six public taps. A management committee has also been set up to ensure the maintenance and long-term sustainability of the facility.

“Our aim is to provide the local population with sustainable access to clean water”, emphasised André Belle Gorsiri. The mayor of Okola praised “a collaboration based on listening to the real needs of the people”, while the subdivisional officer was delighted to see “water flowing from the wall”.

Through this initiative, COTCO reaffirms its commitment to improving the living conditions of communities living alongside the Chad-Cameroon pipeline.

COTCO made its mark at the first edition of the Chad International Mining, Quarrying and Hydrocarbons Exhibition (SEMICA Tchad 2026), held in N’Djamena from 21 to 23 January. At the closing gala dinner, the company received the prestigious “Diamond Sponsor Recognition Trophy”, which recognises its long-standing commitment to transporting Chadian crude oil to international markets.

The trophy was presented to Mr Jean D. Fosso, Operations Manager and representative of the General Manager, by Ms Haoua Oumar Abdallah, Mining Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic of Chad. This award symbolises COTCO’s contribution to Chad’s socio-economic development through operating the Chad-Cameroon pipeline. It was then presented to Alladoum Désiré Nandogongar, COTCO’s Chairman of the Board of Directors.

During the three-day event, COTCO and TOTCO collaborated on a joint exhibition stand, showcasing their activities related to operating the Chad-Cameroon pipeline. This institutional presence enabled both companies to demonstrate their technical expertise, operational experience, and strategic role in transporting hydrocarbons in Central Africa.

Notably, the stand was visited by the Chadian Prime Minister and Head of Government, Mr Amb. Allah Maye Halina, who was accompanied by a large delegation comprising government members, senators, and several other senior figures. The delegation was welcomed by TOTCO’s Managing Director, Mr Abdelgueou Hamid Hamit, and was able to learn about the operational and economic challenges of the Chad-Cameroon pipeline, which is a major infrastructure for the export of Chadian crude oil.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors showed keen interest in the stand showcasing Chad’s crude oil transporters. Mining and petroleum students, young engineers, industry professionals, and institutional partners came to find out more about how the pipeline operates and the challenges involved in transporting hydrocarbons.

The Minister of Petroleum of Chad , Ms Ndolenodji Alixe Naïmbaye, visits the COTCO-TOTCO stand.

On the last day, Chad’s Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology, Ms Ndolenodji Alixe Naïmbaye, paid a further visit, making a special stop at the COTCO-TOTCO stand. This visit demonstrates the importance that the Chadian authorities place on the role of these two companies in developing the national oil sector.

By participating in SEMICA Tchad 2026, COTCO reaffirms its position as a key player in transporting Chadian crude oil and as a strategic partner in regional energy development. This high-profile presence in N’Djamena has also helped raise the company’s profile among decision-makers, industry professionals, and future generations of engineers who will shape the future of the African oil industry.

On Tuesday, 5 August 2025, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) in Douala to mark the signing of the protocol for the transfer of equipment to monitor the impact of the 2×225 KV high-voltage power line operated by the Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC) on the Chad-Cameroon pipeline.

Signed by COTCO’s General Manager, Jean-Paul SIMO NJONOU, and NHPC’s Deputy General Manager, Pierre EDIMO, this protocol marks the culmination of a technical, institutional, and human process that began in 2015.

The interaction between the NHPC high-voltage line and the COTCO pipeline at PK 824 in the Nkometou I area (Obala subdivision) could potentially impact the pipeline due to induced currents. To ensure the pipeline’s integrity, the two companies agreed to conduct a study to determine whether electromagnetic interference currents could impact the pipeline’s corrosion. This study concluded that there would be no impact on the pipeline and recommended installing a technical monitoring device on the pipeline. This was completed in December 2023.

“The signing of this agreement is the result of excellent collaboration between our two companies. It is also an example of a partnership that has ensured the NHPC project will not negatively impact the Chad-Cameroon pipeline”, said COTCO General Manager Jean-Paul SIMO NJONOU, who praised NHPC’s rigour and consistent commitment.

NHPC Deputy General Manager Pierre EDIMO said he was honoured by this cooperation between the two companies. He noted that the project exemplifies a successful partnership between two major players in the energy and hydrocarbon transport sectors.

This external corrosion monitoring system guarantees the safety of the Chad-Cameroon pipeline and demonstrates the responsibility of both companies.

Following the signing of this protocol, COTCO will take over management of the monitoring unit and its daily operations, with the aim of ensuring the integrity of the pipeline and strengthening the infrastructure’s resilience against technical risks associated with neighbouring facilities.
